Back to School Laundry Tips
We know the drill. Back to school means back to doing twice as much laundry. Here are some tips to help you lighten the load.

Get rid of the clutter – before school starts.
Whether your back to school laundry routine is prep for kindergarten or college, it’s likely most of you laundry is too old, too small, or too dated. Fashion moves fast – even in elementary school.
Why waste time washing and folding clothes that don’t fit? Before school gets started, save yourself some time by checking to make sure your clothes – the clothes you’re spending time reading a blog about – are actually worth keeping.
Donate anything that isn’t worth keeping! Now your back to school laundry routine is much more manageable.
Preventative maintenance in the name of the game!
Preventative maintenance the strategy behind how most people us a delivery laundry service. And, there is no reason you can’t use this strategy for the laundry you wash at home – not just the laundry you send for laundry service. One load every single day will do the trick!
Laundry bags not quite full yet? Maybe that means you can take a day off, right? Nope. Grab your sheets and towels or other kitchen linens. It’s these small battles that will help you win the war. And, a good back to school laundry routine starts with continual preventative maintenance.

Keep an emergency stain treatment kit properly stocked.
Stains are inevitable – whether your back to school laundry routine involves Zoom classes or in-person pods. Keep a kit of stain treatment pens, sprays, and scrubbers handy. You’re going to need it!
- Crayon Stains: Coat the area with liquid detergent and let the garment sit overnight.
- Pencil Marks/Stains: Use a clean eraser and rub back and forth gently. Apply detergent to stain, rinse and then machine wash.
- Ink Stains: Apply rubbing alcohol using a paper towel. Dab stain with a clean cloth until the stain is no longer visible. Rinse thoroughly with liquid detergent and launder in the hottest water safe for the fabric.
Call in some reinforcements to help you with a delivery laundry service.
Did you really think we wouldn’t mention this one? It’s our favorite back to school laundry routine tip!
With other chores like grocery shopping, dog walking, and lawn care available at the click of a button, why not laundry?
Whether you’re a family-homeowner with a washer & dryer who needs a helping hand or a college student without access to a washer and dryer, laundry services are proving that there is room at the table for laundry when considering chores to outsource online. With the trend of pickup and delivery laundry service becoming more mainstream, why not give it a shot? Or two…or three…

Check. All. The. Pockets.
If you only take away one tip for your back to school laundry routine, let it be this: CHECK ALL OF THE POCKETS!
Check all of the pockets before starting the washing machine. Nothing ruins your day and your clothing like a rouge crayon that is run through the dryer. Think you don’t need to worry about it? Think again or you’ll be thinking about buying a new washing machine after a tiny bottle of lip gloss leaks in the wash cycle.
We’ve seen it all. And, there is a reason we check every pocket – every time.
