Why is my laundry delivery delayed?

There are a few reasons a laundry delivery might be delayed.

Delayed Laundry Delivery

While we always work to get everything delivered on schedule, there are some instances where we need more time to clean properly. These vary in cause from errors on your end to errors on our end. And, if you’ve found yourself here, you very likely have had one of these special situations impact your delivery time.

Here is what these special situations are, how to fix them moving forward, and when you will get your clothes back.

#1) Dry Cleaning Garments Sent in Wash & Fold Bag

Cause: We use different laundry bags to differentiate different cleaning treatments. You can learn more about the different laundry bags here. If your laundry delivery is delayed because of this, one of two things happened here: a) you sent your dry cleaning garments mixed in with wash & fold laundry or b) you have a dry clean only item unintentionally mixed in your wash & fold laundry bag. The delay is necessary because dry cleaning garments take longer to clean than wash & fold laundry. Since we found the dry cleaning items later than we would have if they were sent in the proper dry cleaning bag, not only is more time needed to clean the items but there was a late start getting it in the cleaning process.

How to Prevent: Packing your dry cleaning garments in the dry cleaning bag prevents this delay. If you need a new dry cleaning bag, let us know!

Delivered on Schedule: Your wash & fold laundry will be delivered as scheduled. And, if you have other dry cleaning items that were bagged properly, these too will be delivered on schedule. This will make up most of your order.

Delivered Late: The garment(s) sent in the incorrect bag will be delivered separately on the next available delivery day.

Delivery Fee: The Folde reserves the right to add an additional $6 delivery fee. However, this is handled on a case-by-case basis.

#2) Incorrect Services Selected

Cause: We offer different turnaround times for different services. Wash & fold laundry is available for next-day delivery due to the speed at which it can be cleaned. However, dry cleaning garments require the standard two-day turnaround due to the hand-treatment required pressing, steaming, and stain treating with solvents. Since the turnaround times available are functions of the services selected, orders that select “wash & fold only” then included dry cleaning in the order will be delayed.

How to Prevent: When ordering, be sure that the services you select in the app match the actual services you need treatment for.

Delivered on Schedule: Your wash & fold laundry will be delivered as scheduled.

Delivered Late: The garment(s) that require dry cleaning will be delivered separately on the next available delivery day.

Delivery Fee: The Folde strictly enforces an additional $6 delivery fee.

#3) Household Dry Cleaning Items Take Longer

Cause: Household dry cleaning items are non-wardrobe items that require dry cleaning treatment. These include comforters, rugs, blankets, curtains/drapes, pillows, quilts, etc. Compared to wardrobe garments, these take an additional day or two for proper treatment. It has nothing to do with an error on your end; it’s simply the time required for proper treatment.

How to Prevent: There is no way to prevent this longer treatment. However, the expectations of a two-day household delivery are easy to prevent with the understanding that these household dry cleaning items inherently take longer to clean – no matter what.

Delivered on Schedule: If included, the rest of your order will be delivered as scheduled.

Delivered Late: The household dry cleaning item(s) that require longer treatment will be delivered separately. This is usually a 3-4 day turnaround from the day we picked it up.

Delivery Fee: There is no additional delivery fee as this was a delay prompted by The Folde.

#4) Additional Cleaning/Stain Treatment

Cause: It’s quite rare. But, sometimes your wash & fold laundry or dry cleaning requires extra treatment. This is likely for stain treatment, hang dry, or re-cleaning. This is not caused by anything on your end. Instead, it is a delay set in place on our end to ensure you get the best possible treatment.

How to Prevent: n/a

Delivered on Schedule: The rest of your order will be delivered as scheduled.

Delivered Late: The items needing additional cleaning/stain treatment will be delivered separately on the next available delivery day.

Delivery Fee: There is no additional delivery fee as this was a delay prompted by The Folde.

#5) Weekend Dry Cleaning Delay

Cause: Due to production limitations, we are temporarily operating behind schedule for weekend dry cleaning production. We apologize for this delay!

How to Prevent: n/a

Delivered on Schedule: If you have wash & fold laundry, it will be delivered as scheduled. The dry cleaning and launder-press portion of your order will be delayed and delivered separately.

Delivered Late: The dry cleaning and launder-press garments will be delivered separately on the next available delivery day. You can see an updated delivery date in your app.

Delivery Fee: The Folde will not be charging a second delivery fee. Thank you for your patience as we navigate the delays associated with the new dry cleaning delivery schedule.

#6) Large Order Delay – Multiple Deliveries

Cause: We estimate cleaning and production times based on average order sizes. We operate on a tight schedule to make sure we get everything done so everyone can have their clothes back on schedule. However, every once in a while, a large order will throw us off the pace. In this case, we reserve the right to deliver these larger orders in two deliveries.

How to Prevent: Sending smaller (1-3 bag) orders more frequently as opposed to sending larger orders (4+ bags) helps us maintain a consistent production schedule and keep enough room in the delivery vans for your clothes.

Delivered on Schedule: Your wash & fold laundry will be delivered in two separate deliveries. The first of the two deliveries will be the original delivery date.

Delivered Late: The second of the two deliveries will be the following delivery day. You will see this delivery date updated in your app.

Delivery Fee: The Folde will waive the extra $6 delivery fee.
