Written in big bold letters on the side of their laundry delivery van, it was really clear: “Hate laundry day?”
Well, yeah. I do.
My family and I have been living in the West University area for the past 30 years. It has been exciting to watch the community grow. We have seen businesses come and go, especially through COVID, but most recently I saw The Folde’s van in our neighborhood delivering to one of our neighbors. I heard about them starting to offer service in our neighborhood but I wasn’t completely sure what they were all about and at first handing your delivery off seems a bit strange. Is that just me?
Well, written in big bold letters on the side of the van, I saw it: “Hate laundry day?”
They got me.
My wife has been stuck with the brunt of the laundry duties but with two kids the laundry would pile up as fast as she could finish it. During COVID, I have been working longer hours than usual and it has just been impossible to catch up on household chores over the past four months.
Quite the oxymoron, right? Being behind on household chores when it seems like there isn’t much else to do during lockdown.
I figured what the heck and gave the service a try.
We send two X-Large bags every Thursday and have them returned the very next day each week. Not only has this created way more free time for my wife and I to spent time with the kiddos but has also allowed pushed us to try little bits of outsourcing other chores as we can. It is funny how outsourcing one little chore can free up quite a bit of time. While the added free time is great, the quality of the service really makes it a pleasure to do business with The Folde. They communicate via text and email throughout the entire process.
You get a friendly reminder the night before pickup to leave your order out the next day. They even let you know when they pick up and deliver your items including a picture of the delivery. All of our clothing is separated by type of item as well as by size. This means each family member’s clothes are separated – making unpacking a breeze. We are able to just toss the items in the proper drawers and we can call our laundry complete.
Bonus Points: The Folde also hangs and steams all blouses, dresses, and collared shirts. Pretty sweet little perk you don’t usually see with wash and fold services.
It’s simple. I created my laundry account with a couple of clicks. In doing this, you’ll select your treatment preferences like detergent, laundry softeners, hanging preferences, bleach, etc. You can even leave notes on special treatment. We like our clothes delicates air dried – so we chose this for an extra $5.
We get a text the evening before reminding us to leave the laundry out for the driver to pickup. I read that you can leave it out for them and don’t need to be home – however with the COVID work from home life, we kept the bag inside until the driver showed up.
They give you your own, personalized laundry bags to separate your laundry and dry cleaning. Again, working from home doesn’t create much dry cleaning for us so we have only been using the laundry delivery – not the dry cleaning delivery.
They took care of the rest. When it get’s delivered, I was kept up to date with app notifications, text messages, and even a photo of the laundry delivered at the door.
Not bad, right? -James
But, we’re not just another pickup and delivery app. Our new take on laundry and dry cleaning is simple. We obsess over every detail throughout the cleaning process because, as you know, cleaning your clothes is an art — not a science.
